Felt Rug Pads

You’ll absolutely love the softer side of felt. Our top choice and most popular rug pads for rugs 6’x9’ and larger. A 100% felt rug pad offers premium support and even stability for larger room rugs that may not required non-slip support.

Synthetic fiber pads are the modern upgrade of old hair jute padding, without the smell. Years back, old hair and jute rug pads were the only felt pads available for area rugs until newer 100% synthetic versions were developed. Newer synthetic felt pads work in the same manner of those old felt jute pads, however will last longer and won’t smell after many years of use.

Sure-Fiber and Blu-Pro felt padding are the perfect pads for rugs 6’x9’ and larger. If your looking to add grip & cushion, I would look into a felt and rubber rug pad, especially with thinner rugs such as flat-woven rugs and runner rugs. Felt rug pads for hardwood, laminate, tile, bamboo or other flooring provide excellent protection and comfort at a great value, with some options clocking in at under $1 per square foot.

Not only do rug pads act as a barrier, providing protection, they also aid in anchoring your rug to the floor to prevent slippage.

Many of our felt rug pads also have the following features:

  • Thick padding
  • Tightly woven construction
  • LEED or Green Label certified eco-friendly
  • Mold, mildew and odor resistant
  • Superior acoustical sound barrier
  • And more

All our pads are non-toxic and 100% safe.

With all these options it may be hard for you to decide which model would be best. And the fact is, the market is flooded with low quality pads that can do harm to you (via chemicals) and your rug and floor by causing damages or stains.

The manufactures we use on were hand-picked from the masses of suppliers as representing the highest standard in the industry with a proven track record of quality, support and satisfaction. That’s why we offer a 100% money back guarantee within 30 days and fully warranty our felt rug pads for 10-20 years!

1. Thickness

This is somewhat of a personal option. The thicker the pad, the more cushioning and the softer the feel. However, you may also need to take into consideration the clearance of doorways and how flush you want your rug to be with the actual floor. The thicker the rug pad, the higher up the actual rug will sit off the floor once the pad is installed.

2. How do I measure correctly?

Felt rug pads are a bit thicker than your normal pads, or those made from rubber. Because of this, we tend to cut an additional 1.25-1.5” off of the measurement you give us. This is done intentionally so the ends of your actual rug lay over the pad and sort of “ramp up” to the main rug. This prevent tripping and makes for a more visually appealing scenario.

So when you measure, just give us the EXACT dimension of the rug itself. If you need help, just give us a call and we’ll walk you thru it.

3. Warranty Length

We get asked this a lot. Honestly, all of our rug pads are of top notch quality and we back them with anywhere from 10-20 year warranties. If you have any problems, just give us a call and we’ll sort it out for you. We appreciate your business and want to keep all our customers happy.

How to Choose:

1. Contact your Floor Manufacturer

Often, your floor manufacture will have a recommendation as to the type and material to use for padding on your floors. If you can’t find any information out from the manufacture, please reach out to us and our experts will help you make the right decision. We are USA based and are always ready to help.

2. Follow our Quick Guide Below:

*Based on years of research, numerous tests, and experience in the industry, we feel the following are the best options for rug pads for hardwood floors.

A. Natural Rubber and Felt Rug Pad Combination

A felt rug pad with the addition of rubber can be a great padding option for your carpet or rug. Normally felt rug pads have less grip and are best used with a larger rug or carpet that is more stable and not as prone to movement. However, the addition of rubber to felt enhances the grip strength making it suitable for smaller and medium sized rugs as well. The rubber underside grips the flooring without causing damage, while the felt and padding on the reverse side hold the rug in place and provides an additional layer of comfort and support.

B. 100% Felt Rug Pad

A felt rug pad offers superior cushioning and comfort. This type of padding is best for medium to large area rugs and carpet that is usually less prone to slipping. Most customers who buy these pads use them on hardwood or laminate floors and are extremely happy with their choice. These tend to be thicker and denser than other options such as non-slip and rubber counterparts. But what they lack in grip strength they make up for in dense thick padding. Because of the limited grip strength we recommend against using a pure felt pad with smaller rugs like runner rugs or scatter rugs, or a rug used in a high foot traffic area like a doorway or entryway.
